A total of 14 students, participated in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in The Gambia. The cohort began their adventure visiting the country’s capital, Banjal, in addition to a crocodile park, a monkey park and a full induction. 10 days of eye-opening work placements followed, with the eight Early Years students supporting teaching at a local school, & Health & Social Care students were stationed at a local hospital, supporting A+E, surgical and maternity wards. Our community development programme in The Gambia, provides an amazing opportunity to gain work experience within community development and conservation, or even in sports coaching and journalism.
You can participate in a study visit in pedagogy, photography, media production, journalism, informatics, environment and animal conservation, laboratory, physiotherapy, dental medicine, psychology, veterinary and hospital work
You will be Learning about, adapting to, getting to know a new country and a new culture. Visit towns and villages where tourist agencies do not reach. Living and socializing with locals, making new friendships. Trying local food, experience local habits. Gaining new work skills and life skills. Gaining independence in a foreign country. Providing help to yourself and others. Exchanging intercultural knowledge. Gaining a higher level of social awareness and responsibility. Gaining international volunteering and study experience. Improving English skills and learning basic phrases in some of the local languages.
